Eugene — 8 nights

Eugene is a city of the Pacific Northwest located in the U.S. state of Oregon. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Cascades Raptor Center and Mt Pisgah. Step out of the city life by going to McKenzie Pass-Santiam Pass loop and Pre's Trail. Change things up with these side-trips from Eugene: Florence (Hobbit Trail & Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park), Willamette University (in Salem) and Yachats State Park (in Yachats). There's much more to do: trek along McKenzie River National Recreation Trail, cruise along Oregon Coast Hwy, do a tasting at Sweet Cheeks Winery, and contemplate the waterfront views at Willamette River.

An old colonial city and a busy cruise ship port less than an hour's drive from Houston, Galveston sits on Galveston Island and serves as a popular vacation destination for both domestic and international travelers.
Visiting Galveston Island State Park and Armand Bayou Nature Center will get you outdoors. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Old City Cemetery and The Galveston Children's Museum. Go for a jaunt from Galveston to La Porte to see San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site about 54 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: appreciate the extensive heritage of The Seawall, browse the exhibits of Moody Mansion, visit East End Historic District, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St Mary's Cathedral Basilica.
