The only metropolitan hub nestled between three national parks, Fresno makes a surprisingly lively getaway.
Get out of town with these interesting Fresno side-trips: Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park (Moro Rock Trail, Giant Forest, &more), Mariposa Grove (in Yosemite National Park) and Pioneer Yosemite History Center (in Wawona). You'll find plenty of places to visit near Reno: Day Go Adventures (in Stateline), Lake Tahoe Yoga (in Zephyr Cove) and South Lake Tahoe (Vikingsholm, Lake Tahoe Balloons, &more).
