Home Of Mount Rushmore

Fewer than 400 people call Keystone home year-round, but the population explodes in summer when crowds flock to nearby Mount Rushmore.
You'll explore and learn at Mammoth Site of Hot Springs and Pioneer Museum. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Mount Rushmore National Memorial and Rush Mountain Adventure Park. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Keystone: Angostura Recreation Area (in Hot Springs), Black Hills National Forest (in Custer) and Elk Mountain Nature Trail (in Wind Cave National Park). Tallahassee to Keystone is an approximately 9.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time to Mountain Standard Time, which is usually a -2 hour difference. Traveling from Tallahassee in July, you will find days in Keystone are slightly colder (80°F), and nights are cooler (53°F). Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 7th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel to Flagstaff.
