Nicknamed the "Entertainment Capital of the World," Las Vegas sits in the middle of a desert in the southern section of Nevada.

A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
Step off the beaten path and head to Mount Hood and Oneonta Gorge. Get out of town with these interesting Portland side-trips: Hood River Lavender Farms (in Hood River), Kiyokawa Family Orchards (in Parkdale) and Cannon Beach (Cannon Beach Gallery, Haystack Rock, &more). Dedicate the 17th (Fri) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. Next up on the itinerary: sample some tasty brews at a beer tour and tasting, steep yourself in history at Fort Vancouver | National Historic Site, walk around Washington Park, and indulge in some culinary diversions at a local gastronomic tour.
