Surrounded by mountain ranges, forests, valleys, beaches, and deserts, the metropolitan area of Los Angeles is home to over 17 million people.
Get some historical perspective at Hollywood Walk of Fame and The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens. Visiting Crystal Cove and Dolphin & Whale Watching will get you outdoors. Explore Los Angeles' surroundings by going to Huntington Beach (Huntington Dog Beach & Huntington State Beach), Founder's Park (in Anaheim) and Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum (in Yorba Linda). There's much more to do: examine the collection at The Nethercutt Collection, enjoy the sand and surf at El Matador State Beach, admire the masterpieces at The Broad, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Moonlight State Beach.

To see where to stay, reviews, other places to visit, and more tourist information, read Los Angeles trip planning site.

If you are flying in from South Africa, the closest major aiports are Los Angeles International Airport, John Wayne Airport-Orange County Airport, Ontario International Airport and San Bernardino International Airport. In September, plan for daily highs up to 34°C, and evening lows to 22°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Thu) so you can travel back home.
