Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.
Kick off your visit on the 11th (Mon): see the interesting displays at South Portland Historical Society Museum and then do a tasting at Maine Mead Works. Keep things going the next day: explore the different monuments and memorials at Eastern Cemetery and then pause for some serene contemplation at The Cathedral Of The Immaculate Conception.
