Kihei — 8 nights

Stretching over 9.7 km (6 mi) of pristine south Maui coastline, Kihei is the island's driest and sunniest region, making it a perfect location for water activities and beach leisure.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Kamaole Beach Park III and Maui Kayaks. Get out of town with these interesting Kihei side-trips: Sliding Sands Trail (in Haleakala National Park) and Maui Stargazing (in Kula). The adventure continues: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Saint Theresa Roman Catholic Church, kick back and relax at Big Beach, stroll around Kamaole Beach Park I, and get some jogging in at Wailea Beach Path.

Kapalua — 5 nights

Kapalua is a census-designated place (CDP) in Maui County, Hawaii, United States. Discover out-of-the-way places like Dragon's Teeth and Kapalua Golf. Take a break from Kapalua with a short trip to Karen Lei's Gallery in Kahakuloa, about 32 minutes away. There's lots more to do: relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas, pause for some serene contemplation at Sacred Hearts Mission Church, get to know the fascinating history of Kahakuloa Bay, and explore the activities along Honokeana Bay.

You can drive from Kihei to Kapalua in an hour. Alternatively, you can take a bus. August in Kapalua sees daily highs of 35°C and lows of 27°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 1st (Thu) so you can travel back home.
