Custer — 3 nights

Generally considered to be the oldest town established by European Americans in the Black Hills, Custer began as a mining town.
Get in touch with nature at Sylvan Lake and Needles Eye Tunnel. Step off the beaten path and head to The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs and Iron Mountain Road. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Custer: Keystone (Big Thunder Gold Mine & Presidential Trail) and Wind Cave National Park (in Wind Cave National Park). And it doesn't end there: take a memorable drive along Needles Highway, take a peaceful walk through Black Hills National Forest, and trot along with a tour on horseback.
