New Orleans — 14 nights

The Big Easy

Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Take a break from the city and head to Happiness Bayou Tours and Crosby Arboretum. Do some cultural sightseeing at Garden District and Jackson Square. Venture out of the city with trips to Oak Alley Plantation (in Vacherie), Mandeville Trailhead Cultural Interpretive Center (in Mandeville) and Nottoway Plantation (in White Castle). Spend the 3rd (Wed) exploring nature at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. There's lots more to do: appreciate the extensive heritage of French Quarter, examine the collection at Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium, go on a hair-raising tour with a ghost and vampire tour, and witness the site of a historic battle at Chalmette National Historical Park.

For ratings and other tourist information, refer to the New Orleans trip planner.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major aiports are Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, Gulfport Biloxi International Airport and Trent Lott International Airport. In April, daily temperatures in New Orleans can reach 25°C, while at night they dip to 25°C.
