Founded in 1859 as part of the Gold Rush in the Rockies, Breckenridge boasts a main street lined with colorful wooden storefronts housing cafes and shops, giving the effect of a thriving western town from the 19th century.
Venture out of the city with trips to Loveland Pass (in Keystone), Beaver Creek Ski Area (in Beaver Creek) and Vail (Betty Ford Alpine Gardens, Vail Mountain Resort, &more). Next up on the itinerary: get interesting insight from Colorado Hot Air Balloon Rides, cruise along Boreas Pass Road, take an in-depth tour of Frisco Historic Park and Museum, and hike along McCullough Gulch.

Known as a ski resort town, Aspen's history goes back to its roots as a silver-mining village tucked away in an isolated valley of the Rocky Mountains.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Aspen: Glenwood Springs (Thermal Spas & Hanging Lake Trail). On the 18th (Sun), dedicate a day to the elevated beauty of Aspen Mountain / Ajax. There's still lots to do: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Maroon Bells, take in the local highlights with Dean's Aspen Tours, grab your bike and head to Castle Creek Road, and take a memorable drive along Independence Pass.

You can drive from Breckenridge to Aspen in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. When traveling from Breckenridge in October, plan for somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Aspen: temperatures range from 60°F by day to 30°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Grand Junction.

The city of Grand Junction is the home rule municipality that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Mesa County, Colorado, United States.
