A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Pittock Mansion and Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum. Visit Columbia River Highway and Eastbank Esplanade for their historical value. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Portland: Bells Up Winery (in Newberg), Willamette Valley Vineyards (in Turner) and Sokol Blosser Winery (in Dundee). Finish up your sightseeing early on the 20th (Sat) so you can go by car to Newport.
