Nicknamed the "Emerald City" because of its abundant evergreen trees, Seattle is the cultural and business center of the Pacific Northwest, as well as a popular holiday destination.
On the 1st (Sun), take a stroll through Pike Place Market, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Kerry Park, and then explore the world behind art at Chihuly Garden and Glass. On your second day here, take in panoramic vistas at Space Needle, then enjoy the sand and surf at Alki Beach, and then admire the sheer force of Snoqualmie Falls.

Charlotte to Seattle is an approximately 7-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and train. You'll gain 3 hours traveling from Charlotte to Seattle due to the time zone difference. In September, Seattle is a bit cooler than Charlotte - with highs of 72°F and lows of 56°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Mon) so you can drive to Astoria.

Visit Cannon Beach and Long Beach for some beach relaxation. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Ecola State Park and Astoria-Megler Bridge. Spend the 5th (Thu) exploring nature at Fort Clatsop National Memorial. An old logging town at the crux of the high desert and ponderosa pine forest, Bend melds a love of the outdoors with cosmopolitan flair.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to High Desert Museum and Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint. Take a break from the city and head to Smith Rock State Park and Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Take a break from Bend with a short trip to Fort Rock State Natural Area in Fort Rock, about 1h 15 min away.
