Isla de Vieques — 3 nights

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Visiting Balneario Sun Bay and La Plata Beach will get you outdoors. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Playa La Chiva and Puerto Ferro Lighthouse. There's still lots to do: discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour.
