Utuado is a municipality of Puerto Rico located in the central mountainous region of the island known as La Cordillera Central. You can drive from San Juan to Utuado in 1.5 hours. Another option is to fly. Traveling from San Juan in December, things will get a bit cooler in Utuado: highs are around 80°F and lows about 70°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Fri) to allow time to drive to Aguadilla.

Destroyed over the centuries by earthquakes and hurricanes, resilient Aguadilla now serves as one of Puerto Rico's top surfing destinations.
Kick off your visit on the 19th (Sat): kick back and relax at Crashboat Beach, then admire the masterpieces at Museo de Arte de Aguadilla y del Caribe, then enjoy the sand and surf at Sandy Beach, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at Domes Beach. With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
On the 22nd (Tue), kick back and relax at Playa Punta Soldado Beach, enjoy the sand and surf at Carlos Rosario Beach, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Tamarindo Beach. On the 23rd (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: get interesting insight from Tours, then head off the coast to Culebrita Island, and then enjoy the sea views from Culebrita Lighthouse.

Expect a daytime high around 85°F in December, and nighttime lows around 75°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Wed) early enough to travel to Isla de Vieques.

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Caracas Beach and Sun Bay Beach. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at La Chiva and Secret Beach (Pata Prieta).
