Although Badlands National Park's name might not be the most inviting, its landscape of pinnacles, eroded buttes, spires, and an expansive, pristine mixed-grass prairie remain enticing.
Prairie Homestead and Minuteman Missile National Historic Site will appeal to history buffs. Step off the beaten path and head to Notch Trail and Door Trail. Change things up with a short trip to Badlands National Park in Interior (about 36 minutes away).
