Deadwood is a city in South Dakota, United States, and the county seat of Lawrence County. Get some historical perspective at Mount Moriah Cemetery and Adams House. Museum-lovers will appreciate Adams Museum and D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Deadwood: Roughlock Falls State Nature Area (in Lead) and Devils Tower (Devils Tower Trading Post & Devils Tower National Monument). You can drive from Wall to Deadwood in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and taxi; or take a bus. Generally considered to be the oldest town established by European Americans in the Black Hills, Custer began as a mining town.
You'll explore and learn at Mammoth Site of Hot Springs and Museum of the Fur Trade. Get in touch with nature at Black Hills National Forest and Custer State Park. When in Custer, make a side trip to see Elk Mountain Nature Trail in Wind Cave National Park, approximately 36 minutes away. There's still lots to do: explore the fascinating underground world of Jewel Cave National Monument, stop by Custer County Candy Company, pause for some photo ops at Crazy Horse Memorial, and cruise along Wildlife Loop Road.
