The Motor City

Founded in 1701 by a French explorer and adventurer, Detroit exerted a profound impact on the world for most of the 20th century.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and Law Quadrangle. Bring the kids along to Imagination Station and Detroit Zoo. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Detroit: Toledo (Veteran's Glass City Skyway & Toledo Zoo) and Kellogg Park (in Plymouth). There's more to do: admire the landmark architecture of The Guardian Building and take in the waterfront at Detroit RiverFront.

Traveling from Grand Canyon National Park in July, expect Moab to be somewhat warmer, temps between 97°F and 67°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Thu) early enough to catch the flight to Boulder.
