Change things up with a short trip to Hoover Dam in Boulder City (about 42 minutes away). There's still lots to do: ponder the design of Bellagio Fountains, try to win big at The Venetian, explore the stunning scenery at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, and shop like a local with The Strip.

You can fly from San Diego to Las Vegas in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. When traveling from San Diego in July, plan for much warmer days and somewhat warmer nights in Las Vegas: temperatures range from 46°C by day to 31°C at night. On the 12th (Thu), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Seattle.
