Generally considered to be the oldest town established by European Americans in the Black Hills, Custer began as a mining town.
Bring the kids along to Black Hills National Forest and Jewel Cave National Monument. Change things up with these side-trips from Custer: Presidential Trail (in Keystone) and Insideout (in Hill City).
