For most visitors to this part of the world, the wild part of Alaska starts at Seward, a small port city that takes advantage of the region's natural beauty.
Change things up with a short trip to Exit Glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park (about 32 minutes away). On the 22nd (Sat), spend an adventurous day with a kayaking and canoeing tour. Spend the 24th (Mon) exploring nature at Kenai Fjords National Park. There's lots more to do: get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour, tour the pleasant surroundings at Tonsina Creek Trail, and see the world from above with a helicopter tour.

Newark to Seward is an approximately 8.5-hour combination of flight and bus. You can also drive. The time zone difference when traveling from Newark to Seward is minus 4 hours. Hoonah

Hoonah is a largely Tlingit community on Chichagof Island, located in Alaska's panhandle in the southeast region of the state. Kick off your visit on the 28th (Fri): take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports and then get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour.

The narrow city of Ketchikan clings to the bluffs that form Revillagigedo Island's southwestern shore.
Spend the 3rd (Wed) on the water with a fishing tour.
