Amarillo

— 15 nights

Yellow Rose of Texas

Known as "The Yellow Rose of Texas," Amarillo was once a series of ranches.
Visit Palo Duro Canyon State Park and Harrington House for their historical value. Appreciate the collections at Jack Sisemore Traveland RV Museum and The Buddy Holly Center. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Amarillo: Canyon (Old West Stables & Lighthouse Trail), Tucumcari (Tucumcari Historical Museum, Mesalands Community College's Dinosaur Museum and Natural Sciences Laboratory, &more) and Lubbock (Prairie Dog Town, National Ranching Heritage Center, &more). There's still lots to do: take in the exciting artwork at American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum, take in the spiritual surroundings of The Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ, see the interesting displays at Russell's Truck and Travel Center, and wander the wide-open spaces of Cowgirls and Cowboys in the West.

To see where to stay, more things to do, other places to visit, and other tourist information, read our Amarillo holiday app.

In May, daily temperatures in Amarillo can reach 79°F, while at night they dip to 50°F.
