Augusta–Richmond County is a consolidated city-county on the central eastern border of the U.S. Get some cultural insight at Riverwalk and The Laurel and Hardy Museum of Harlem, Georgia. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Georgia's Old Governor's Mansion and The Boyhood Home of President Woodrow Wilson. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Augusta: Columbia (South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum & South Carolina Military Museum), Callaway Plantation (in Washington) and Madison (Heritage Hall & Rogers House and Rose Cottage). There's lots more to do: explore the world behind art at South Carolina Artisans Center, take an in-depth tour of Augusta Museum of History, see the interesting displays at Augusta Canal Discovery Center, and contemplate the long history of A.H. Stephens State Historic Park.
