Carmel-by-the-Sea, often simply called Carmel, is a city in Monterey County, California, United States, founded in 1902 and incorporated on October 31, 1916. We've included these beaches for you: Carmel River State Beach and Pfeiffer State Beach. Step off the beaten path and head to Point Lobos and Monterey Bay. Change things up with these side-trips from Carmel: Big Sur (Partington Cove, Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, &more). There's still lots to do: see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour, do a tasting at Pierce Ranch Vineyards Tasting Room, and stop by The Cheese Shop.

Cambria is a seaside village in San Luis Obispo County, California, United States midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles along California State Route 1 (Highway 1). Start off your visit on the 12th (Sun): see the interesting displays at Coastal Discovery Center at San Simeon Bay (Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary) and then look for all kinds of wild species at Piedras Blancas.
