One of the island of Hawaii's major towns, Hilo contains a mix of Asian and Polynesian cultures and is known for its proximity to a national park encompassing two active volcanoes.
Start off your visit on the 22nd (Wed): take in the dramatic scenery at Rainbow Falls, take a memorable drive along Saddle Road, then take in nature's colorful creations at Liliuokalani Gardens, then admire the natural beauty at Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden, and finally explore the different monuments and memorials at Alae Cemetery. Keep things going the next day: take in nature's colorful creations at Akatsuka Orchid Gardens, then examine the collection at Jagger Museum, then explore the striking landscape at Thurston Lava Tube (Nahuku), and finally stroll through Kilauea Iki Trailhead.

Stretching over 9.7 km (6 mi) of pristine south Maui coastline, Kihei is the island's driest and sunniest region, making it a perfect location for water activities and beach leisure.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Kamaole Beach Park III and Napili Beach. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kihei: Ho'okipa Beach Park (in Paia) and Lahaina Banyan Court (in Lahaina). There's more to do: immerse yourself in nature at Iao Valley.
