In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.

Change things up with these side-trips from Honolulu: Ka'ena Point State Park (in Waianae), Haleiwa (Scuba & Snorkeling, Sunset Beach Park, & more) and Ko Olina Lagoons (in Kapolei). There's much more to do: trek along Koko Crater Railway Trail, take in the dramatic natural features at Halona Blowhole, explore and take pictures at Diamond Head State Monument, and explore the activities along Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve.
