The Forest City

Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.
Venture out of the city with trips to Nubble Lighthouse (in York) and Ogunquit (Perkins Cove, Marginal Way Walkway, &more). There's still lots to do: admire the masterpieces at Portland Museum of Art, take a stroll through Old Port, indulge your thirst for a good beer at Allagash Brewing Company, and visit a coastal fixture at Portland Head Light.
