Change things up with a short trip to Bandelier National Monument in Los Alamos (about 1h 20 min away). And it doesn't end there: appreciate the extensive heritage of Albuquerque Old Town, get engrossed in the history at Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum, have fun and explore at Explora Science Center and Children's Museum of Albuquerque, and take in the dramatic natural features at Petroglyph National Monument.

Traveling by car from Alamogordo to Albuquerque takes 4 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and flight; or take a bus. While traveling from Alamogordo, expect a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Albuquerque, ranging from highs of 73°F to lows of 48°F.
