Step off the beaten path and head to Chelsea Market and Worthington State Forest. Visiting Bushkill Falls and Sourland Mountain Preserve will get you outdoors. You'll find plenty of places to visit near New York City: Peconic River Herb Farm (in Calverton), Storm King State Park (in Cornwall on Hudson) and Quogue Wildlife Refuge (in Quogue).
