The center of Cherokee culture in the eastern part of the country, the town named after this Native American tribe serves as a base camp for hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Cherokee: Max Patch (in Hot Springs) and Maggie Valley (Wheels Through Time Transportation Museum & Waterrock Knob). There's still lots to do: let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour, admire all the interesting features of Cherohala Skyway, brush up on your knowledge of spirits at Elevated Mountain Distilling Co., and see the interesting displays at Museum of the Cherokee Indian.
