Vail — 3 nights

Originally built as a base for Vail Ski Resort, the town of Vail has blossomed into its own destination, but still has less than 6,000 permanent residents.
Let the collections at Frisco Historic Park and Museum and Walking Mountains Science Center capture your imagination. Step off the beaten path and head to Booth Falls Trail and Fishing Charters & Tours. Get out of town with these interesting Vail side-trips: Lily Pad Lake (in Silverthorne), Room Escape Games (in Breckenridge) and Frisco Adventure Park (in Frisco). Next up on the itinerary: see Off-Road Tours, take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback, and grab your bike and head to Vail Recreation Path.

Expect somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Vail in June: highs in Glenwood Springs hover around 66°F, while lows dip to 46°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 16th (Thu) so you can travel to Grand Lake.
