In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.

Escape the urban bustle at Sunset Beach Park and Makapuu Lighthouse Trail. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Ko Olina Lagoons and Lanikai Beach. Explore Honolulu's surroundings by going to Haleiwa (Waimea Valley, Haleiwa Art Gallery, & more), Waimanalo Beach (in Waimanalo) and Opana Radar Site (in Kawela Bay). There's much more to do: hike along Koko Crater Railway Trail, explore the different monuments and memorials at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, identify plant and animal life at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, and explore the gorgeous colors at Banzai Pipeline.
