More than just one of the nation's top business centers, Columbus is a mixture of many different parts of America, situated at the spot where the so-called "Bible Belt" meets the varied cultures of the Great Plains and Appalachia.
Get out of town with these interesting Columbus side-trips: Gallant Farm Preserve (in Delaware), Columbus Zoo and Aquarium (in Powell) and Rockhouse (in Logan). Next up on the itinerary: whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms, identify plant and animal life at Conkles Hollow State Nature Preserve, and have some family-friendly fun at Columbus Axe Throwing.

New York City to Columbus is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also fly; or drive. Expect little chillier evenings in Columbus when traveling from New York City in July, with lows around 66°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 19th (Fri) early enough to catcht the bus to Cincinnati.

On the 23rd (Tue), admire the masterpieces at Toledo Museum of Art, then meet the residents at Toledo Zoo, and then walk around Oak Openings Preserve Metropark. Kick off your visit on the 25th (Thu): relax in the rural setting at Mulberry Creek Herb Farm, see the interesting displays at Merry-Go-Round Museum, and then cool off at Cedar Point. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums, take an in-depth tour of Liberty Aviation Museum, then visit a coastal fixture at Marblehead Lighthouse State Park, and finally steep yourself in history at Eleutheros Cooke House and Garden.
