Astoria, named for famed fur trader John Jacob Astor, resides near the mouth of the Columbia River.
Take a break from the city and head to Haystack Rock and Astoria Oregon Riverwalk. Step off the beaten path and head to Hug Point State Park and The Lewis And Clark National And State Historical Parks. Step out of Astoria with an excursion to Cannon Beach in Cannon Beach--about 44 minutes away. There's much more to do: appreciate the history behind Astoria Column, see the interesting displays at Seaside Inverted Experience, admire all the interesting features of Fort Clatsop National Memorial, and snap pictures at Astoria-Megler Bridge.
