Nicknamed the "Emerald City" because of its abundant evergreen trees, Seattle is the cultural and business center of the Pacific Northwest, as well as a popular holiday destination.
Escape the urban bustle at Alki Beach and Tolmie State Park. Your inner history buff will appreciate Pioneer Square and West Point Lighthouse. Change things up with these side-trips from Seattle: Olympic National Park (Murhut Falls & Lake Cushman). There's still lots to do: wander the streets of Pike Place Market, appreciate the history behind Fremont Troll, take a leisurely stroll along Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, and admire nature's wide array of creatures at Woodland Park Zoo.

Tulsa to Seattle is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or drive. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time to Pacific Standard Time, which is usually a -2 hour difference. Friday Harbor, San Juan Island

The tiny town of Friday Harbor is the largest village on the San Juan Islands, and it fits within just 2.6 km (1 sq mi) of space.
On the 29th (Wed), get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour, then admire all the interesting features of Schooners North, and then examine the collection at The Whale Museum. On your second day here, immerse yourself in nature at Lime Kiln Point State Park, then take in the dramatic natural features at Cattle Point, and then take in the history at American Camp.

Traveling by flight from Seattle to Friday Harbor takes an hour. Alternatively, you can ride a ferry; or do a combination of flight, taxi, and ferry. Traveling from Seattle in May, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be slightly colder in Friday Harbor, with lows of 45°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Thu) so you can travel to Astoria.

Astoria, named for famed fur trader John Jacob Astor, resides near the mouth of the Columbia River.
You'll get in some beach time at Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock. Escape the urban bustle at Ecola State Park and Fort Clatsop National Memorial. Change things up with a short trip to Oswald West State Park in Cannon Beach (about 54 minutes away). The adventure continues: pause for some photo ops at Astoria Column and stop by Beach Books.

You can do a combination of flight, train, and bus from Friday Harbor to Astoria in 7.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of flight and bus; or do a combination of ferry, train, and bus. In May, daytime highs in Astoria are 62°F, while nighttime lows are 48°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Sun) early enough to travel to Timberline Lodge.
