Richmond to Anchorage is an approximately 12.5-hour flight. You can also fly; or drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 4 hours traveling from Richmond to Anchorage. When traveling from Richmond in June, plan for colder days in Anchorage, with highs around 66°F, while nights are a bit cooler with lows around 51°F. You'll have a few hours on the 6th (Sun) to wrap things up before traveling to Denali National Park and Preserve.

Kick off your visit on the 7th (Mon): identify plant and animal life at Husky Homestead and then hike along Mt. Healy Overlook Trail. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 8th (Tue): take in the awesome beauty at Denali, then take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports, and then shop like a local with Wild about Denali.

The Golden Heart City

With its strip malls and fast-food restaurants, Fairbanks appears a bit functional on first glance.
Start off your visit on the 9th (Wed): examine the collection at Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum, then tour the old-fashioned way with Gold Dredge 8, and then examine the collection at Fairbanks Ice Museum.

Alaska Starts Here

For most visitors to this part of the world, the wild part of Alaska starts at Seward, a small port city that takes advantage of the region's natural beauty.
Spend the 13th (Sun) exploring nature at Kenai Fjords National Park Visitor Center. There's lots more to do: get a new perspective on things with Boat Tours & Water Sports, see the world from above with a helicopter tour, get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Alaska SeaLife Center, and explore the activities along Resurrection Bay.
