Nicknamed the "Entertainment Capital of the World," Las Vegas sits in the middle of a desert in the southern section of Nevada.
Attractions like Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and The Roller Coaster make great kid-friendly stops. Get out of town with these interesting Las Vegas side-trips: Hoover Dam (in Boulder City) and Valley of Fire State Park (in Overton). There's still lots to do: admire the local landmark of Bellagio Fountains, try your luck at Paris Las Vegas, take in nature's colorful creations at Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, and enjoy some diversion at Strip Gun Club.

Boston to Las Vegas is an approximately 7-hour combination of bus and flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. You'll gain 3 hours traveling from Boston to Las Vegas due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Boston in August, expect nights in Las Vegas to be a bit warmer, around 80°F, while days are much warmer, around 102°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 6th (Sun) so you can travel to San Diego.
