Polson is a city in Lake County, Montana, United States, on the southern shore of Flathead Lake. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to St. Ignatius Mission and Jewel Basin Hiking Area. Take a break from the city and head to Swan River Nature Trail and Swan Lake. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Polson: Bigfork (Kootenai River, Echo Lake, &more). The glaciers from which Glacier National Park takes its name mostly dissipated eons ago, but they left behind a scoured landscape of high and steep mountain peaks, sparkling lakes, lush alpine meadows, and thick forests.
Step out of the city life by going to St.Mary Falls and Bullhead Lake. Step off the beaten path and head to Virginia Falls and Iceberg Lake. Next up on the itinerary: tour the pleasant surroundings at Granite Park Trail and take some stellar pictures from Jackson Glacier Overlook.
