Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Denver Botanic Gardens and 16th Street Mall. Head to Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World and American Museum of Western Artfor plenty of shopping. Step out of Denver to go to Littleton and see Roxborough State Park, which is approximately 48 minutes away. The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at Denver Union Station, get engrossed in the history at Byers-Evans House, glide through natural beauty at Cherry Creek State Park, and grab your bike and head to Cherry Creek Trail.
