Divided into neighborhoods with distinct characters and cultural heritages, San Diego sits just north of the Mexican border and offers visitors a blend of tourist attractions, including a lively nightlife, diverse cuisine, and a thriving musical scene.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Wed): admire the majestic nature at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. On the next day, examine the collection at USS Midway Museum and then kick back and relax at La Jolla Cove.

When traveling from San Diego in September, plan for a bit warmer days in Los Angeles, with highs around 85°F, while nights are about the same with lows around 66°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Sun) so you can travel to Carmel.

Getting from Los Angeles to Carmel by combination of flight and bus takes about 4.5 hours. Other options: drive; or do a combination of flight, shuttle, and bus. Plan for little chillier temperatures traveling from Los Angeles in September, with highs in Carmel at 72°F and lows at 56°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 10th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Yosemite National Park.
