Wichita is the largest city in the U.S. Explore Wichita's surroundings by going to Safari Zoological Park (in Caney), Abilene (Dwight D. Eisenhower Library and Museum, Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad, & more) and McPherson Opera House (in McPherson). There's still lots to do: make a trip to The Keeper of the Plains, steep yourself in history at Old Cowtown Museum, learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Sedgwick County Zoo, and get curious at Cosmosphere.

For maps, more things to do, other places to visit, and other tourist information, use the Wichita attractions planner.

If you are flying in from Canada, the closest major airport is Wichita Eisenhower National Airport. In September, daily temperatures in Wichita can reach 35°C, while at night they dip to 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 19th (Thu) to allow enough time to travel back home.
