Salmon Capital of the World

The narrow city of Ketchikan clings to the bluffs that form Revillagigedo Island's southwestern shore.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Misty Fjords National Monument as well as Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary. The time zone difference moving from Eastern Standard Time to Alaska Standard Time is minus 4 hours. When traveling from Washington DC in August, plan for cooler days in Ketchikan, with highs around 66°F, while nights are slightly colder with lows around 55°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Mon) so you can travel to Juneau.

Juneau — 2 nights

America's Largest Capital Area

Juneau is an unusual state capital in many respects.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Dolphin & Whale Watching. On the 25th (Tue), get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour and then explore the activities along Tracy Arm Fjord. Seward — 2 nights

For most visitors to this part of the world, the wild part of Alaska starts at Seward, a small port city that takes advantage of the region's natural beauty.
