The capital of the United States, the District of Columbia contains the lion's share of the country's most treasured monuments, memorials, and public museums.
Head to Takoma Park Farmers Market and Fell's Pointfor plenty of shopping. Attractions like Washington National Cathedral and Politics and Prose make great kid-friendly stops. Step out of Washington DC with an excursion to Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore--about 56 minutes away.
