Carmel-by-the-Sea, often simply called Carmel, is a city in Monterey County, California, United States, founded in 1902 and incorporated on October 31, 1916. Take a break from the city and head to Point Lobos and Carmel River State Beach. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park and Pfeiffer State Beach.
