Theme Park Capital of the World

For most people, any mention of Orlando immediately conjures up images of sprawling theme parks filled with characters plucked right out of popular animated movies.

Pack the 22nd (Fri) with family-friendly diversions at Universal Orlando Resort. There's still lots to do: find something for the whole family at Universal's Islands of Adventure, take an in-depth tour of Casa Feliz Historic Home Museum, admire the masterpieces at Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, and discover the magic at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Central Florida travel guide

4.2
Disney Parks & Activities · Theme Parks · Water Parks
Central Florida attracts visitors with its subtropical climate, sandy beaches, theme parks, golf courses, and world-famous stock-car races. This part of the state is also home to numerous natural springs, many of which run through protected state parks and provide ideal natural locations for picnicking and spotting indigenous manatees and alligators. Central Florida boasts two coastlines, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that seafood is extremely popular in these parts. Tasting the local cuisine of fresh clams, lobster, mahi mahi, grouper, and yellowfin tuna is definitely one of the things to do. In addition to being a vacation hub, the central parts of Florida also house some of the country's top medical research and high-tech manufacturing facilities.
