Ouray is a Home Rule Municipality that is the county seat and the most populous city of Ouray County, Colorado, United States. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Bear Creek Falls and Horsethief Trail. Get outdoors at Bear Creek National Recreation Trail and Uncompahgre Gorge. Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like The Colorado Trail and Berg/Animas Trail. Take a break from the city and head to Square Tower House and Pinkerton Hot Springs. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Durango: Ruins Road (in Mesa Verde National Park) and Cortez Cultural Center (in Cortez).
