Los Alamos — 16 nights

Los Alamos is a town in Los Alamos County, New Mexico, United States that is recognized as the birthplace of the first atomic bomb––the primary objective of the Manhattan Project by Los Alamos National Laboratory during World War II. The town is located on four mesas of the Pajarito Plateau, and has a population of 12,019. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Los Alamos: Abiquiu (Georgia O'Keeffe: Welcome Center, Ghost Ranch, &more), Classical Gas Museum (in Embudo) and Cochiti Pueblo (Cave Loop Trail & Canyon Trail). Spend the 25th (Wed) exploring nature at Manhattan Project National Historical Park. There's still lots to do: get curious at Bradbury Science Museum, identify plant and animal life at Valles Caldera National Preserve, take in nature's colorful creations at Los Alamos Nature Center, and see what you can catch with Land of Enchantment Guides - Fly Fishing Trips.
