Get some cultural insight at The Getty Center and Montana Avenue. Visit Santa Monica Pier and Hollywood Walk of Fame for their historical value. Take a break from Los Angeles with a short trip to Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, about 30 minutes away. Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Royal Street and Frenchmen Street. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Garden District and St. Louis Cathedral. When in New Orleans, make a side trip to see Nature & Wildlife Tours in Slidell, approximately 48 minutes away. Spend the 9th (Tue) exploring nature at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. There's lots more to do: brush up on your military savvy at The National WWII Museum, explore the different monuments and memorials at Lafayette Cemetery No.1, appreciate the extensive heritage of Jackson Square, and make a trip to French Quarter.
