City of Roses

A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
Escape the urban bustle at Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area and Multnomah Falls. Change things up with these side-trips from Portland: Seaside Beach Lewis and Clark Monument (in Seaside), Cannon Beach (Haystack Rock, Cannon Beach, &more) and Oneonta Gorge (in Cascade Locks). Spend the 10th (Fri) exploring nature at Fort Clatsop National Memorial. Dedicate the 8th (Wed) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. And it doesn't end there: admire the natural beauty at International Rose Test Garden, trek along Wildwood Trail, admire the majestic nature at Silver Falls State Park, and take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Hood.
