A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
You'll get in some beach time at Cannon Beach and Hug Point State Recreation Site. Get a sense of the local culture at Columbia River Maritime Museum and The Grotto - National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Portland: Seaside Inverted Experience (in Seaside), Cannon Beach (Cannon Beach Gallery & Cannon Beach History Center and Museum) and Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum (in McMinnville). An old logging town at the crux of the high desert and ponderosa pine forest, Bend melds a love of the outdoors with cosmopolitan flair.
