Change things up with these side-trips from Asheville: Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail (in Great Smoky Mountains National Park), Newfound Gap (in Gatlinburg) and The Coaster at Goats on the Roof (in Pigeon Forge). There's still lots to do: explore the wealth of natural beauty at The North Carolina Arboretum, get a taste of the local shopping with Dogwood Crafters, surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour, and examine the collection at Southern Highland Craft Guild Folk Art Center.
